01 / ABOUT THE PLACE
About this place
Cut to a satisfying thickness that balances tenderness with a pleasant snap, the jo-tan shio (premium salted beef tongue) is the natural place to begin a meal at Taiseien. Highlights labelled as Kuroge Wagyu, including jo-kalbi, jo-harami, and jo-roast, come thoroughly coated in savory marinade, allowing their rich beef flavor to shine as soon as they hit the iron grill. Offerings like horumon, rumen, and senmai-sashi (omasum sashimi) round out the spread, making it easy to tailor an extensive tasting of textures and cuts.
The supporting menu is just as generous for snacking between grilling or wrapping up dinner. In particular, the cheese chijimi stands out with its crisp, browned exterior encasing a generous molten cheese filling. Seafood and scallion varieties are also available when you want a savory pancake with a different profile. For a heartier course, degutan soup—with its customizable heat level—and degutan rice come in substantial portions ideal for sharing across the table.
Situated in Higashimatsumoto 2-chome, Edogawa Ward, the restaurant is open from 16:00 Tuesday through Friday and from 12:00 on weekends, taking Mondays off. Lingering over kimchi platters and seasoned namul with a cold beer, highball, or bowl of makgeolli makes it an easy, satisfying destination for group dinners.
